So it’s the morning of our opening ceremony (WMU Day 3). Jet lag is kind of getting the best of me and I’m up a bit early, so I figured I would share my top 3 tips on getting ready for a big show like the one coming up tonight!
1) Pack Everything the Night Before
It’s so important that you don’t forget anything! And this is definitely something you don’t want to be stressing about the morning of the big event when your cortisol levels are already through the roof (that’s your stress hormone that actually peaks to its highest levels in the morning). Make sure you have all costumes, all shoes, all undergarments, hair products and a cosmetic bag. (I pack hair and makeup products even if there will be stylists there, just incase I need a touch up before, during, or after the show!) Also remember safety pins just incase of a wardrobe malfunction, and water and snacks!
2) Wake Up to a Warm Shower
This is really the best way to start your day! I would recommend not washing your hair, because frizziness never looks good on stage. I use a coffee scrub on show days to help wake up my skin and my body (yes I found yet ANOTHER reason to use and love coffee!).
3) Do an At-Home Facial and Wear Minimal Makeup
I do an at-home facial at least once a week to keep my skin clear, but I add an extra one on show days. For show days I use a microdermabrasion scrub that helps remove dead skin and make my face glow!
I also don’t wear much makeup before a show because I want to look fresh faced at night. The more caked on your makeup is, the less fresh or real you will look. So I keep it minimal during the day to wow the crowd at night!
Follow these tips and be sure to have a successful show day!
Cheers! Catherine, xo
